Head out along the Waikiki coast for sunset, then jump in for a swim before the sun goes down. This easygoing catamaran cruise pairs Diamond Head views with an ocean dip and a bar on board, and it leaves just a short trip from the hostel.
From $56 per person. Kids 3 and under are free. Ask the front desk about guest pricing.
This sunset cruise leaves right from the edge of Waikiki and heads out along the coast just as the light starts to turn. You get the full run of Diamond Head and the Waikiki skyline from the water, with the colors building the whole way. It is an easy, open-air couple of hours on a catamaran, and a short trip from the hostel.
What sets this one apart is the swim. Partway through, if conditions are good, the crew stops so you can jump in and cool off in the ocean before the sun goes down. Bring basic swimming skills and wear a swimsuit under your clothes. Snorkeling is not part of this trip, so you can leave the gear behind. There is a bar on board with drinks available for purchase, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, so you can settle in and enjoy the ride.
The boats are roomy catamarans with plenty of open deck and a restroom on board, and the crew keeps things relaxed and social. It is open to all ages, with guests four and older at the standard price and little ones three and under along for free, so it works for just about anyone staying with us.
Departure is typically 5:00 PM and shifts with the season, so check your confirmation for the exact time. Plan to arrive about 45 minutes early.
Wear your swimsuit under your clothes if you plan to swim, and bring a towel and a light layer for the ride back. Snorkel gear is not needed, since snorkeling is not part of this cruise. Bring a valid photo ID if you plan to order from the bar.
The cruise leaves from 1 Holomoana Street, next to the Prince Waikiki hotel, about a 10 minute drive from Waikiki Beachside Hostel. A quick rideshare or TheBus gets you there easily. There is a paid parking structure nearby and paid valet at the hotel, but skip the yellow stalls since they are towed. Plan to arrive about 45 minutes before departure.
